DALLAS - C.D. "Punch" Thomasson, 79, passed away peacefully July 7, 2012 at Golden Living Center.
He was a native of Dahlonega, Ga., born Aug. 26, 1932 to the late John H and Julia Treadaway Thomasson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ed Thomasson; and two sisters, Irene Way and Mary Ethel Thomasson.
Punch had retired from Dallas Electric as an electrical-lineman. He also worked for the Town of Dallas for many years. He served in the Gaston Life Saving for over 14 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was survived by his wife of 35 years, Lynn Johnson Thomasson; a daughter Athena T. Hodge of Dallas; two grandchildren Dave Hodge of Belmont and Megan Hodge of Dallas; a brother, Clyde Thomasson and wife Carolyn of Clover, S.C.; two sisters, Naomi Badger and husband Nelson of Gastonia; Betty Carroll and husband James of Clover, S.C.; and a sister-in-law, Mary Thomasson of Gastonia.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with Military honors.
Memorials may be made to St Paul's Lutheran Church, 531 Hardin Road, Dallas, NC 28034.
Pallbearers will be Craig Johnson, James Johnson, James Carroll, Vard Clemmer, Steven Stroupe and Rick Akers.
