A visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Smathers Funeral Home in Rainelle, West Va. with a service to celebrate his life to follow in the chapel at 3 p.m.
A visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home in Charlotte, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte.
Mr. Dunford was born Nov. 14, 1941, in Burnwell, W.Va., son of the late Earl Hansford and Helen Cunningham Dunford.
He was of the Catholic Faith and a graduate of Sherman High School, served in the US Navy and US Marines as a Corpsman during the Vietnam War, was a graduate of West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and received two additional Doctorate Degrees of Pharmacy, owned Dunford Rexall Drugs in Raineville, West Va. during the 70s and 80s and had been associated with Rite Aid Pharmacy, Revco Drug, Eckerd Drug and Fallston Pharmacy. He was a member of American Legion 40 and 8 and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Dunford, children, Cynthia Lewis and husband, John of Sherwood, Ark., Pamela Dunford of Sissonville, West Va., Steven Dunford and wife, Paula of Anjean, West, Va., Daniel Skeens and wife, Yvonne of Jacksonville, NC and Bethanie Skeens of Charlotte, seven grandchildren, sisters, Karol Dunford of Rainelle, W. Va., Sheila O'Neal of Winifrede, West Va., and Yvonne Rodriguez of Bradley, West Va., and a brother, Greg Dunford of Boulder Creek, Calif. and three Furbabies.
Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #144, Belmont, NC. Cecil was larger than life and his big heart and great sense of humor will be forever cherished.
