BELMONT - Charles Richard Hudson passed through the Heavenly gates to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 7, 2012.

He was the only son of the late Paul and Betty Hudson.

Charles was born in Gastonia and moved to Cherryville in 1943. He graduated from Cherryville High School. Through the years he attended UNC Chapel Hill, Western Carolina University and the University of Virginia.

Charles was employed by First Union National Bank, retiring from Central Carolina Bank with 34 years of banking experience. After two years of re-tirement, he was employed with Gaston County Appraisal Offices working 9 1/2more years.

Charles was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was an active and dedicated member of South Point Baptist Church for thirty-six years.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Janice A. Hudson, his loving daughters, Kimberly Long and husband, Steve, Ashli Denton and hus-band, Kacy, six grandchildren, Nate, Abby and Alec Long, Alejandra, Hunter and Kennedy Denton.

Visitation will be 1 to 2:45 p.m. Thursday at South Point Baptist Church in the Family Ministry Center.

A celebration of life service will follow at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary with ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬Dr. James C. Hilton officiating.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the South Point Baptist Church Building Fund, 124 Horsley Avenue, Belmont, NC 28012 or to the , 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.

The family would like to express a special "thank you" to Dr. Steve Yates and his staff at Gaston Hematology for 6 1/2 years of loving and caring ser-vices.
