YORK, S.C. - Charles "Werth" Jarvis passed away at his home on May 7, 2013.

He was born July 7, 1921 in Caldwell County, son of the late Charles Spencer Jarvis and Mamie Cloer Jarvis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bertha Conrad Jarvis, son Richard Fox, brothers Clyde, Boyd Jarvis, sis-ters, Pauline Howard, Lowell Francum, Lois Truitt, nephew, Christopher Francum.

Surviving are his daughter, Miriam Elmore and husband, Mike "Sherman" Elmore of the home, daughter-in-law, Debbie Fox, Clover, S.C.; grandchildren, Michelle Smith and fiancé Bobb Miller, Asheville, Shawn Smith of the home; Lonnie Fox and wife Rebecca, Dallas, NC; Cory Fox and wife Lauren, Stanley, NC; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jake, Ashleigh Fox, brother-in-law, "Skeets" Francum, Gastonia; several nieces and nephews; special family friend and caregiver, Lisa Hardy.

Charles was a WWII veteran. As a child, he was fascinated by airplanes and became a pilot. Serving in the Navy, he was a flight trainer and maintained aircraft, He drove for Akers Motor Lines for 25 years and earned safe driving awards each year of his career.

He enjoyed his retirement with his wife, Bert, at their home on the river. He enjoyed fishing, his small plant nursery and his little dogs.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. with memorial service at 4 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Scherer PCA Church, 4800 Charlotte Hwy, Lake Wylie, S.C.
