GASTONIA - Clarence David Jones, 76, passed away June 10, 2013, at home.

He was born in Mount Vernon, Md., on Nov. 27, 1936, to the late Clarence Holbrook and Sadie Jones.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Margaret Royster-Jones; sisters, Gloria Mitchell and Joanie Jackson; and many children he mentored and showed the value of hard work and how to cook.

He served as Disaster Action Team captain for the Gaston County Disaster Response Team of the American Red Cross.
To celebrate Clarence's life, the family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the American Red Cross, 190 S. Oakland St., in Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Red Cross, 190 S. Oakland St., Gastonia NC 28052 or Hospice & Palliative Care Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar St., Lincolnton, NC 28092.
