Cramer Junior McDaniel, 90, of Gastonia died peacefully at the Durham North Carolina Veterans Hospital on Friday, July 6, 2012. He was born in Gastonia on Dec. 24, 1921, son of the late Thomas Johnson McDaniel and Mattie Carpenter McDaniel. Cramer was the husband of Cloe McDaniel (Bell), whom he married on Nov. 23, 1946.

Cramer retired from Firestone after 35 plus years of service. He was an active member of Covenant United Methodist Church where he served as the Head Usher. Cramer was a proud World War II Navy veteran who served in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Riley. He served his fellow servicemen as a member of the Last Man's Club of Gaston County.
Cramer is survived by his loving wife, Cloe; his daughter and her husband, Jill and Jack Kenley; his son, Tim McDaniel and Patti Parker; five grandchildren, Brooke (Kevin) Paramore of Durham, Jay (Ashley) Kenley of Durham, Jessica (Graham) Auten of Great Falls, Mont., Kristin (Robbie) Flynn of Mount Holly, and Kent McDaniel of Charlotte; six great-grandchildren, Haley, Ava, Camden Paramore of Durham, James and Hayes Kenley of Durham, and Brayden Flynn of Mount Holly. He is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives and many, many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Albert McDaniel, Clarine Blackwood, Henry McDaniel, Mary Alice Howe and Hugh McDaniel.
All are welcome to join Cramer's family at his viewing on Monday, July 9, 2012, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 801 W.Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28052, with Pastor David Mason officiating.
Burial will immediately follow in Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 S. New Hope Road, Gastonia, NC 28054, where military honors will be presented by Gaston County Honor Guard.
The family suggests memorial contributions to his church, Covenant United Methodist Church.
