David Hobert Davis, 64, of Stanley, passed away on Friday at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was a native of Spencer Mountain and was born Jan. 29, 1948, to Freda Harbin Davis and the late John E. Davis.
Mr. Davis received his B. S. Degree in marine biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. After 35 years of service, he retired from Duke Energy and worked with DTA for 10 years after retirement.
David was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
David was preceded in death by his father; and brother, John E. Davis Jr.
David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Bell Davis; mother, Freda Harbin Davis; his daughters and spouses, Mickie and Darryl Petty, Candice Teague and Kevin Elliott and Kellie and Scott Miller; grandsons, Phillip Petty, Joshua Petty, Matthew Teague, Christian Teague and Carson Miller; his brothers and sisters, Faye McKee (Jim), Diane Goldner, Tommy Davis (Patricia), Raymond Davis (Tina); and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1:45 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at South Point Baptist Church, 124 Horsley Ave., Belmont.
Funeral service will be after the visitation at 2 p.m. Monday with Dr. Jimmy Hilton and the Rev. Barron Lee officiating.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens, Mount Holly.
