GASTONIA - Dr. Dennis Joseph Salmon, 66, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas, NC. He was a native of Narberth, Pennsylvania, son of the late Bernard and Dorothy Salmon Jr. He was also preceded in death by brother, Terry Salmon, sister Regina Salmon, and his first wife, Susan Haertel.
Dennis worked with the Lithium Corporation for twenty years as a PhD Research Chemist and was the author of numerous papers and patents on lithium serine. Dennis enjoyed his writing and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and UNC basketball. He was a former member of Southampton Tennis Club and played with the Gaston Tennis Association.
Survivors include his loving wife of twenty six years, Nancy Salmon; daughters, Mindy M. Easler and husband John, Leigh-Erin M. Kensicki and husband Ed, Leslie T. Fite and husband Drew; brothers; Bernard Salmon III, Kevin Salmon and wife MaryAnn, and John Salmon; sisters, Rita Salmon, and Maureen O'Malley and husband Jim; grandchildren, Jacob Easler, Hunter and Hallie Fite.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday March 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday March 25, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the for Cancer Research 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100 Charlotte, NC 28207.
