CHERRYVILLE - Don Richard Stroupe, 71, passed away Feb. 18, 2013, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Don was born in Cleveland County on Sept. 9, 1941, son of the late Ben Stroupe Jr. and Vivian McKinley Stroupe.

He was retired from Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation as a long line driver. Don was a member of First Baptist Church in Cherryville.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Dian Short Stroupe of the home; two daughters, Suzanne Stroupe Leder and husband Kevin of Stanley and Shanon Martin and husband Charlie of Kings Mountain; two sons, Rick Stroupe and wife Julie of Boiling Springs and Scott Stroupe and wife Ann of Kings Mountain; a brother Ben Stroupe and wife Barbara of Cherryville; three sisters, Patricia Whitaker and husband Ron of Cherryville, Dot Patrick and husband Carl of Shelby and Mary O'Malley of Marietta, SC; stepmother, Blanche H. Stroupe of Cherryville; sister-in-law, Jackie Stover and husband Phil; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren and his four beloved labs.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Amanda Tedstrom, Dr. Patel; Joann and April from Healthy at Home and the Wound Team and Progressive Care Nurses at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. At other times, the family will be at the home.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating.

Burial will be private.
