BELMONT -- Donald Taylor Bone, 79, died Saturday, March 16, 2013.
He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Joseph and Ethel McDonald Bone. He was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Bone; and two sisters, Carol and Viril Bone.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served as a gunner aboard the USS Iowa and was a member of the East Belmont Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wanda Dowdle Bone; three sons, Jeffrey Bone of Belmont, Rodney Bone and wife Jennie of Belmont, and Deron Bone and wife Cathy of Charlotte; two brothers, Tommy Bone and wife Donna of Sherrill's Ford, and Joseph Bone of Lincolnton; two sisters, Betty Bishop and husband Bob of Belmont, and Mazzie Allen of Anderson, S.C.; and four grandchildren, Andrew, Erica, Ansley, and Cody Bone.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be truly missed.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Bone will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the Cornerstone Family Worship Center, Mount Holly with Reverend Kevin McClure officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly is serving the family.
