DALLAS - Douglas Joe Huffstetler, 67, passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at the Charles George VA Hospital in Asheville.

Douglas was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Edgar Ray and Willie Mae "Bill" Eades Huffstetler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Dean Huffstetler; and sister, Espie Huffstetler.
Douglas was retired as director of traffic, Carolina Freight Carriers, Cherryville. He was president of CMH Transportation Logistics and worked part time in safety and security at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was a military police officer in the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam. He was a member of Myers Memorial United Methodist Church where he was very active serving in the choir. Douglas lived his life honoring Jesus Christ. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Upton Huffstetler; daughters, Julia Rae Huffstetler Davis and husband, Kenneth E., Sharon Nicole Huffstetler Pilkington and husband, Timothy D.; sister, Elvie Huffstetler Gordon; grandchildren, Austin H. Davis, Sydney E. Davis, Elijah Cade Pilkington, Olivia C. Pilk-ington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Myers Memorial United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Clyde Penry and the Rev. Leroy Mobley officiating. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park with military honors rendered by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
