GASTONIA - Earle Abernethy Wilfong, 87, died Nov. 6, 2012.

Born in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late John Edwin Wilfong and Lula Pearl Abernethy Wilfong.
Mr. Wilfong was a retired Linotype Operator with Loftin Printing Company and a lifelong member of First ARP Church where he was a member of the Grier Bible Class and a former member of the choir. Mr. Wilfong served our country in the US Navy during World War II.
Surviving family members include his brother and sister-in-law, J. Sidney and Carol Wilfong of Gastonia and a sister, Mary Wilson of Marietta, GA; nieces and nephews, Wanda Jones, Sandy and Doug Burtchaell, and Michael and Laurie Wilson; a number of great-nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service beginning 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, in the sanctuary of First ARP Church with Dr. Eddie Spencer and the Rev. Matt Kuiken officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Burial will be private at Gaston Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First ARP Church, 317 S Chester Street, Gastonia, NC 28052.
