Elizabeth Dixon Richie died on July 6, 2012, at The Oaks of Mayview.

Born Nov. 10, 1919, in Gaston County to Campbell Stacy Dixon and Lula Gladys Falls Dixon, Elizabeth lived in Gastonia during her early years. She graduated from Gastonia High School in 1936 and from the Nixon Beauty School in Gastonia in 1937. She worked as a licensed cosmetologist for several years thereafter. After moving to Raleigh in 1950, and while raising three children, she worked for J.C. Penney Company for approximately five years; she also worked as an office manager for Weight Watchers Inc. for 15 years.

A longtime, faithful member of West Raleigh Presbyterian Church, she served admirably in many service capacities - Sunday school teacher, Circle treasurer, vice president and chairman; and also as the chairman of numerous church committees. She was active in the Women of the Church for more than 50 years.

She was a godly, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was the wife of the late Julius Ralph Richie, who died in 1999. She is survived by two daughters and a son; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her children are Barbara Richie and Robert Pond of Raeford, Ann Richie Johnson, Mark Kelly and Gwendolyn Richie, all of Raleigh. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews

Funeral arrangements will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at West Raleigh Presbyterian Church, 27 Horne St., Raleigh.
A visitation will be held at the church from 1-2 p.m.

Burial service will be private.
