Ethan Francis Scott walked faithfully nearer to the Lord and his cross, as he battled cancer from age fourteen to sixteen. At his home on August 9, 2018, he died peacefully in the sacraments and in his family's loving and grateful embrace.
Ethan was born in San Antonio on December 22, 2001, to Gary Joseph and Lauri Marie. Surviving are Ethan's brothers, Patrick (spouse Lauren), Justin, and Andrew. Ethan's maternal grandparents are Mary Beth (Adler) Wilhelmi and Dr. Arthur Paul (deceased) of Illinois. Paternal grandparents are Jean (Mattingly) Scott and Bernard of Ohio. Ethan also enjoyed spending time with his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ethan was a cheerful soul who lived every day to the fullest. He was heavily involved with church youth groups at St. Michael's, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Philomena Academy, and was cherished by the community of Belmont Abbey College. Ethan's greatest gift was his personality; wherever he went, he lit up the room with his unique sense of humor and his contagious smile. He participated in debate team and homeschooling cooperative classes and enjoyed his computer in addition to reading St. Thomas Aquinas. He found peace on long walks in the woods with his dog, Christa, and treasured his adventures with family and friends. Ethan was richly blessed with his encounter of the Blessed Mother and the Knights and Dames of Malta during his trip to Lourdes, France with his parents and Abbot Placid.
