STANLEY - Evelyn Shepherd Crump, 80, died Aug. 18, 2013.

She was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Cornelius, youngest daughter of Burlie and Ellen Morrow Shepherd.

Evelyn graduated salutatorian from Sharon High School in Charlotte in 1950 and married Reverend Martin Lee Crump in 1951. They were members of Northside Baptist Church in Charlotte for many years, where she was a choir member and worked with the bus ministry. She helped her husband in establishing two churches in Charlotte and also Hurricane Baptist Church in Wise, Va. Their last church together was in working with Faith Baptist Church in Belmont, NC. Her last membership was at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC, where she was a mem-ber of the prayer shawl ministry. During their ministry she worked as a bookkeeper and she retired as an associate with J.C. Penny in Gastonia. She worked 20 years part time after retiring with American Greeting. Her hobbies were quilting and family genealogy. She was preceded in death by her parents Burlie and Ellen Shepherd, her husband Reverend Martin Lee Crump, a brother Herman Shepherd, and a sister Betty Leather-man.
She is survived by two daughters Sandy DeWeese, Becky Seaford and husband Raymond Seaford, Jr., grandchildren Joshua Pheagin, Brandon Seaford, Ashley DeWeese and Justin Seaford, great grandchildren Noah Pheagin, Kaitlyn Gable and Devon Pheagin, and a sister Colleen Moore.

The funeral service conducted by the Pastor Steven Stinson and Pastor Warner Doles will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hudson Chapel of Northside Baptist Church in Charlotte.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
