ASHEVILLE - Faye Kennedy Hackney-Lance, 86, went on to her heavenly reward on March 22, 2013.

Faye was born on July 18, 1926, in High Point, the first born of Fred and Sallie Kennedy.
A devoted mother and nurse, she and her first husband Edwin A. Hackney served in India 22 years as missionaries from 1959-81. She leaves behind a legacy of vital ministry in witness to Christ, serving the needs of others in the caring community of Brooks-Howell and across the world.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin in '91 and husband Bishop Joseph Lance in '03.
She is survived by her sisters, Hanna, Mary; and brother, Philip; sons, Mark, John, Paul and James; grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Becky, Luke, Leah, Ja-red, Heidi, Jason; and great-grandson, Lucas.
A service of worship and memorial will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Brooks-Howell Home chapel in Asheville on Monday, April 1, followed by receiving of friends. Burial service will take place at 11 a.m. Tueday, April 2 at Bethel United Methodist Church, Morganton with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are requested to Short-Term Mission Fund and/or Pioneer Evangelistic Work in India. Please make checks out to Biltmore United Methodist Church (376 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC 28803) and designate it to Faye Hackney-Lance Memorial.
