ROCK HILL, S.C. – Frances Inez Hair Edwards, 91, of South Herlong Avenue, passed away April 14, 2012 at Unihealth of Rock Hill.

A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late William Bates and Pearl Inez Weathersbee Edwards.
Mrs. Edwards was a member of Oakland Baptist Church in Rock Hill and a former member of First Baptist in Gastonia.
She graduated Gastonia High School in 1937, Furman College in 1941 and obtained her master's degree in education in 1947.
She retired as a school teacher with the N.C. Education Department.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Frances Edwards of Raleigh; son, Charles Weaver Edwards and wife, Kay of Rock Hill; brother, William Bates Hair Jr. and wife, Fran of Gastonia; four granddaughters and one great grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert Lee Edwards; brother, Robert H. Hair; and sister, Jean Hair Higdon.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia with Rev. Bob Shrum officiating.
Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
