CHARLOTTE - Fred Albert Carlisle III, 61, passed away Tuesday, the 1st of October, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center – Main.

He was born in Hickory, NC, Fred lived most of his life in the greater Charlotte area and attended High Point College and graduated
from UNCC. He worked as a Systems Analyst for Scharf Pera & Co. PLLC for more than thirty years.

Fred was a member of the Charlotte Civitans, Bill Parker Sertoma, Gideons, Covenant United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Men and the church choir. A comedian at heart, he kept others entertained with jokes and stories. He was a soft spoken man of faith, who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed computers, music, reading, playing games and any activities that could be shared with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Carlisle, Jr. and Renn Alexander Carlisle as well as a grandson, Alexander Sage Bruzgis. Fred is sur-vived by his wife, Sandra Carlisle; daughter, Cynthia Ketner and husband, Ryan of Riverside, NJ; son, Jonathan Carlisle and wife, Jean of Barrington, NJ; stepson, Phillip Bruzgis of Charlotte, NC; adopted daughter, Rhonda Smartt and her husband, Roger of Gastonia, NC and five grandchildren: Andrew, Madyson, Lydia, Astrid and Xander.
Fred's family would like to thank Dr. Everette Ribakove and his staff, the doctors, nurses and the Levine Cancer Center Team at CMC Main and at the MMG South Park locations for the excellent care given to him through his illness. We want to give our prayerful love and thanks to Dr. Alan Thalinger and Corrine who without them Fred would not have survived the fifteen years as a cancer survivor due to their loving and tremendous care that was given to him.

The family will gather to greet friends 6 until 9 p.m. Friday, the 4th of October, 2013 at Ellington Funeral Services. A second visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, the 5th of October, 2013 at Covenant United Methodist Church, 6824 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC 28214. A service to celebrate his life will follow at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, South New Hope Road, Gastonia.
