COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. - Harry Clifford Dameron Sr., 91, formerly of Gastonia and Long Island, N.Y., died May 5, 2014, at his residence at The Dunlap House.

He was born June 30, 1922 in Bessemer City, NC, a son of the late Ira Craig and Lelia Watts Dameron.
Harry served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He retired as an electronic technician from Metro Tel Corporation. He was an active member of West Avenue Presbyterian Church and he and his wife Mary were advisors to the senior group "Forever Young."
He was also a volunteer with Crisis Assis-tance Ministry.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Edith Hoover Dameron.
Survivors of Mr. Dameron include his children and their spouses, Harry Clifford "Cliff" Jr. and Pam Dameron of Chester, VA; James Craig Dameron and Nancy Gail Clark of Portland, OR; Nancy Lynn Dameron and Dominick Donnarumma of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Lynn Wolfe of Williams-burg, VA; Megan Edwards of Fairfax, VA; Noah and Jonah Donnarumma of Albuquerque NM; numerous nieces and nephews, and six great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Harry's life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at West Avenue Presby-terian Church with the Rev. David Lytle officiating.
A private service of committal will be held for the family at Bessemer City Cemetery.
