GASTONIA - Herman Morris Teeter Sr., 86, died peacefully on March 23, 2013, at Covenant Village in Gastonia.

H e was born Oct. 5, 1926, in Gaston County, the son of the late Morris Bagley and Pauline Wright Teeter.
He graduated from Belmont High School and was a World War II Navy veteran. He made a career as an auto mechanic and a computer technician.
He was a member of the Belmont Lions Club and First United Methodist Church of Belmont.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church of Belmont, with Dr. Charles Baker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The family will also receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Covenant Village. Interment will be private.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Sue O'Daniel Teeter; sons, Herman Morris Teeter Jr. and wife Carol of Gastonia, Oren O'Daniel Teeter and wife Cindy of Mineral Springs; daughter, Paula Jane Phillips and husband David of Belmont; sister, Anna T. Rucker of Norfolk, Va.; grandchildren, David Bashant and fiancee' Gretchen Decker, Kyle Teeter and wife Kacie, Matthew Teeter, Rachel Teeter, Sarah McLeese and husband Nathan, Davis Phillips and wife Erika, Anderson Phillips and Hannah Phillips; great-granddaughter, Anna Redding Teeter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 748, Belmont, NC 28012.
