BELMONT - Sgt. Howard Lee Hall, 66, of 4018 Brown Drive, passed away June 25, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia.

He was born Jan. 18, 1946, in Mecklenburg County, son of the late James R. and Velma Williamson Hall. Mr. Hall was a Army Vietnam Veteran, hav-ing received a Purple Heart. He was a member of East Belmont Free Will Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Scottie Stew-art.

The family will receive friends 3 to 4 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

A private inurnment will be at the VA Salisbury National Cemetery.

He is survived by: daughter, Julie Thompson and husband, Eugene; brothers, Jimmie R. Hall and wife, Judy, David Hall and wife, Judy; sister, Glyda Godfrey; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: brother, Bill Hall; sisters, Margaret Hall Detter, Hazel Hall Rector, Joanne Hall Martin.

Memorials may be made to East Belmont Free Will Baptist Church, 909 Edgemont Ave, Belmont, NC 28012.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
