GASTONIA - Howard E. Railey, 81, passed away March 7, 2013, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House, Dallas.

A native of Chester, S.C., Howard was the son of the late Otis B. and Letha H. Railey.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Howard was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church and a previous member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, R.A. Leader and various other leadership positions. He was a Korean War Veteran and received the Purple Heart and other hero medals. Howard re-tired from FMC Lithium after 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Alenda "Linda" Crane Railey; two daughters, Roxann R. Mize of Gastonia and Sherry R. Simpson (Brian) of Crouse; one brother, Jerry Railey of Lowell; four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, with a one hour visitation be-fore the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park with full military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
