Hubert Burrell Obituary
A native of Hiawassee, Ga., he was the son of the late John Clinton and Maggie Maney Burrell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Doris Owenby Burrell, children, Debra Lovelace of Belmont, James Burrell of Belmont, Michael Burrell of Gastonia, sisters, Gertrude Anderson of Canton, OH, Gladys Pittman of Belmont, Vee Clark of Gainesville, GA, grandchildren, Ricky Lovelace, Jr., Cristy McSwain, Jacob Burrell and one great grandson, Ian Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, J.C. Burrell and one sister, Bessie Mull.
Hubert was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea and Vietnam. He retired as a supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service after 20 years of service. He was a member of Philanthropic Masonic Lodge #32 AF&M and a member of the York Rite Bodies.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at McLean Funeral Directors, Belmont. The Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sharon Freewill Baptist Church, 410 Reece St., Gastonia, NC 28056. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
