GREENSBORO - Iris Hancock Johnson, 71, of 510 Fifth Ave., passed away on Nov. 16, 2012, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

She was born April 18, 1941, in Mount Holly, daughter of the late Willie and Carrie Hancock.
Mrs. Johnson led a life of extraordinary courage, strength, grace and dignity and was sent to us by God.
A celebration of life service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at United Institutional Baptist Church in Greensboro.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Juan Bernard Johnson Sr.
She leaves to mourn her children, Derrick Leander Johnson (Janet), Christopher Adam Johnson; grandchildren, Latoya Carrie Johnson, Juan Bernard Johnson Jr., Isaiah Jerel Fox, Marcus Leander Johnson and LaEisha Shafon Robinson; sister, Barbara Hancock Grier (Hubert) of Belmont; brother, Willie Oscar Hancock Jr. of Mount Holly, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Arrangements by Perry J. Brown Funeral Home, Greensboro.
Entombment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Greensboro.
