ALEXIS - James Wilson Blancet Sr., 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 18, 2011, surrounded by his wife, daughter and both granddaughters.
Mr. Blancet was born in Charleston, W. Va. on Nov. 13, 1922.
He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran and a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed helping those in need and yard sales.
He resided in Nitro, WV where he was a Meat Manager for several years at Fas Check Supermarket until he retired. He attended Twin City Bible Church as well as Nitro Church of God.
Mr. Blancet is preceded in death by his first wife Eula Stamper Blancet and son James W. Blancet, Jr. He is survived by his daughter Janet Blancet Martin of Charlotte, granddaughters Melody McClanahan of Charlotte and Melissa Hopkins of Concord, NC.
He is also survived by grandsons James, William and Robert L. Blancet all of Lexington, Ky. He was adored by his great-grandsons Brendan, Ethan, Owen and Caleb in addition to six other great-grandchildren.
"Jim" moved to Charlotte with his daughter in 2000 and in May 2004 he married his second wife Ruby Townsend Blancet. They resided in Alexis, NC. They attended New Faith Baptist Church of Alexis. From this union, he is sur-vived by step-children Amelia Townsend, Teresa Levitt, Janet Ramsey, Debra Mills, and Rev. George Townsend. He also had 10 step-grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Joe Drum. Service will be held at Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley, NC on Sunday February 20, 2011 at 3pm.
Family will receive friends at Carothers Funeral Home one hour prior to service.
There will be a graveside service at Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans, WV conducted by Rev. George Townsend. He will also have full Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
The Blancet family would like to thank all who have surrounded them during this difficult time. A special thank you to Myra with Gaston County Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Gaston County.
