GASTONIA - James "Don" Donald Sills, 84, of Gastonia passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Belaire Health Care in Gastonia.

He was a native of Gastonia and the son of the late John William Sills and Bertie Lee Torrence Sills.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Chapel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred High and the Rev. Roger Overton officiating.

Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park with military honors provided by The Gaston County Honor Guard.

Don was a retired accounting supervisor for Firestone, a member and deacon of Chapel Grove Baptist Church, a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a recipient of the Occupation Medal while in Germany.

Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bobbie Tindall Sills; son, Thomas Lee Sills and wife, Lana R. Sills, of Gastonia; daughter, Donna Sills Clayton and husband, Lee R. Clayton, of Belmont; grandchildren, Cory Sills and wife, Kelley, of Gastonia, Natalee Clayton and Allison Clayton of Belmont; sisters, Virginia Johnson of Gastonia, Helen Day and hus-band, Tommy, of Gastonia, Barbara Myers of Statesville, Betty Oates and husband, Glenn, of Gastonia, and Laura Galloway of Gastonia.

Memorials may be made to Chapel Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Chapel Grove Baptist Church, 716 Camp Rotary Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.
