GASTONIA - James Randall Elrod peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his loving family on Dec. 19, 2012, at age 74.

He was born in Habersham, Ga., to the late Lester John and Thelma Lou Elrod.
Randall was a member of Fraley Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Trustee, and sang in the choir. He retired from Duke Power and was employed at Industrial Electroplating Company. He also served his country in the US Army.
In addition to his parents, Randall was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Elrod and a sister, Linda Sue Elrod.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Geri Elrod; step-daughters, Renee Dockery, Nancy Welch and husband, Kelly, Susan Wilson and hus-band, Billy; step-son, Steve Parker; brother, Ken Elrod; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three nephews and one niece.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation beginning 10 a.m. Saturday at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate Randall's life will follow at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary.
Dr. Warner Doles, the Rev. Ken Faulkenbury and the Rev. Charles Keller will officiate.
Burial will follow at Berea Baptist Church Cemetery on Hickory Grove Road, Gastonia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fraley Memorial Baptist Church, 3025 Fraley Church Road, Lowell, NC 28054.
