STOKESDALE - James Melvin Lamkin, 67, died June 15, 2012, at home.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel 127 Ellisboro Rd Madison.
Mr. Lamkin was born Dec. 24, 1944, in Cherokee County, to Dale Galloway Lamkin and the late Frank Lamkin. Jim had a great sense of humor and was a big teaser who will be greatly missed.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brother, Bob Lamkin, and step-daughter, Debbie Amend.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 23 years, Shirley Lamkin of the home; daughter, Jamie Lamkin; step-daughters, Sandy Ricketts (David) and Diane Thackerson (David); brother, John Lamkin (Lana); sisters, Kathy Lingerfelt, Jeanne Valliere (Greg), Julia Reep (Tim) and Linda Spencer; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday at Huntsville Community Center, 1151 Sardis Church Road, Madison.
