MOUNT HOLLY - James Franklin "Frank" Murphy, 77, passed away March 26, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Wooten, Ky., on Jan. 14, 1936, son of the late Franklin Lee and Nancy Melton Murphy.
Frank was a member of Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church and a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council #11076. He formerly owned and operated Tarheel Elevator Company in Charlotte. Frank was a family man, loving his wife Dolly of 55 years, children and spouses, and grandchildren dearly. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening.
Left to treasure his memories are his loving wife, Dolores "Dolly" Jarvis Murphy of the home; children, James Franklin Murphy III and his wife Teena of Mt. Holly, Cheri Murphy of Mt. Holly, Debbie M. Wright of Mt. Holly, Vicki M. Skipper and husband Jeff of Charlotte, Tammie M. Tindall and husband Roy of Stanley; sister, Zelma Kinton of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Kevin Murphy, Heather Davis, Sean Wright, Jacob Skipper, Luke Skipper, Matthew Tindall, Cecily Tindall, Joseph Tindall, Lacey Murphy, Bailey Murphy; great grandchildren, Daniel, Emily and Christopher Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Murphy and a grandson, Ryan Wright.
A prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m., followed by a time of visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at McLean Funeral Directors, Belmont.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church.
Inurnment will be private to the family.
