GASTONIA - James Harold O'Donoghue, 86, made his heavenly flight on June 12, 2013.

He was born in Kannapolis, son of the late Moses and Rellie Rowland O'Donoghue. He was preceded in death by his wife Alva Penley O'Donoghue, two daughters Judy and Carloyn; two brothers Carl and Loyd O'Donoghue; three sisters Helen Dellinger, Tina Felton and Ruth Bollinger.
Survivors include a son Marty O'Donoghue of Lexington, two sisters, Gertie Duncan of Stanley, Sue Thomas of Georgia; two stepdaughters, Susan Poole and husband Lee of Gastonia, Patsy Holcomb of McAdenville; 15 stepgrandchildren, 27 stepgreat-grandchildren, and 10 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Catawba Free Will Baptist Church in Mt. Holly. He loved his church family and will be greatly missed.
Funeral service conducted by the Rev. James Messer will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Goshen Cemetery.
