MOUNT HOLLY - James K. Shook, 69, passed away on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was born on Aug. 18, 1943, son of the late Cartis and Norma Baynard Shook.

James graduated from Belmont High School - Class of 1961 and attended Atlantic Christian College where he majored in Art and Biology. He was an accomplished artist and painter, enjoyed time spent as a bee keeper and was an avid animal lover.
He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Pat Triplett of Belmont and Brenda Fullerton and husband Bruce of Miami, Fla.
He's also survived by his nieces and nephews, Alan, John and Julia Triplett, Katherine Schain and husband Chris, Joe Fullerton; great nieces, Madison and Emma Schain and several extended family.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon, Tuesday at McLean Funeral Directors, Belmont. A funeral service, officiated by Dr. Charles Aldridge, will follow at noon in the Bumgardner Chapel of the funeral home. Private interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
