GREENSBORO - Jane B. Allen, 78, formerly of Gastonia, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home N. Elm Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Committal services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Stony Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Albemarle.
Mrs. Allen was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Hampton, Va., daughter of Bruce and Grace Beveridge.
She lived in Baltimore, Md. and upon marriage relocated to Gastonia where she raised her family and earned a degree in Art Education from Sacred Heart College in Belmont. She served as a substitute teacher for Gaston County Schools and participated in several art exhibitions with her work. She was an avid reader and enjoyed overseas travel. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jimmy B. Allen, their son, Bruce D. Allen, a sister, Anne Beveridge, a brother, Tom Beveridge and a son-in-law, Major Currie.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughters, Laura Currie of Cameron, Marsha Norman of Greensboro, brother, Donald Beveridge (Rachel) of Joppa, MD, sister-in-law, Lucille Beveridge of Kingsville, MD, brother-in-law, David H. Allen of Mint Hill, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
