DALLAS - Joan Jordan Brooks, 79, died Oct. 14, 2012.
Born in Harrison County, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Albert A. Jordan and Alice Madden Jordan.
Mrs. Brooks received a degree in Nursing from the Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA in 1954. She was a longtime Registered Nurse at Gaston Memorial Hospital where she retired in 1997 after 36 years of service. Known for her kindness and loyalty, Joan attended First Assembly Gastonia. She was an avid shopper and cherished her family.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Mike and Nancy Brooks, Jerry and Pat Brooks, and Pam and Dan Pruitt, all of Dallas; grandsons, Wesley Brooks and Jonathan Pruitt; great-grandson, Tyler Pruitt; her constant companion, Joe the Parrott.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the funeral to fol-low in Founders Chapel at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jerry Millwood will officiate.
Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
