 YORK, S.C. - Samuel Blair "Sam" Price, 78, died July 10, 2012, at his home with his wife of 20 years, JoAnne.
He was born March 4, 1934, in Gaston County, a son of the late Paul Eugene and Martha Estelle Gordon Price.
Sam served his country in the US Army, US Navy and the Army National Guard. He was a fixer in the Textile industry and retired from Stowe-Pharr Mills, formerly United Spinners. He was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather. Sam was a fun loving, friendly man who enjoyed meeting people and telling wonderful stories.
Survivors of Mr. Price include his sons, Samuel Mark Price and wife Tammy of Belmont, NC; Matthew Blair Price and fiancée Mary
Etta Hoffman of Clover, SC; step-sons, Michael Steele Lollis, all of Clover, SC; Henry Edsel Cox of Pittsburgh, PA; Clarence Beau Calhoun, Jr. of York, SC; grandchildren, Maria Gretchen Price, Eliana Rose Price; step-grandchildren, Christopher Breedlove, Brandy Cox, Allie Cox, Jenny Stiles Ward, Justin Parker, Elijah Cal-houn; one step-great-granddaughter; brother, David Price and wife Scottie of Ashburn, GA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Joyce Nivens Price and a brother, Bill Price.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the Rev. C. Michael York officiat-ing.
Interment will be held privately for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany-Santiago Volunteer Fire Department, 13167 W. Hwy 55, Clover, SC 29710, Clover Volunteer Fire Department, 115 Bethel St., Clover, SC 29710, or to Smyrna Volunteer Fire Department, 1052 Main St., Smyrna, SC 29743.
