GASTONIA - John Brice "J.B." Stowe Jr., 87, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Feb. 10, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.

Born May 5, 1925, in Gaston County, he was the son of the late John Bryce Stowe, Sr. and Mamie Kendrick Stowe.

J.B. was a lifetime member of New Hope Presbyterian Church where he served in many capacities including Deacon, Sunday school Superin-tendant, Nominating Committee and Cemetery Committee. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. J.B. was the former manager of Lineber-ger Park Shell gas station and was a maintenance supervisor at Carriage House and Georgetown Woods Apartments when he retired.

In addition to his parents, J.B. was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Stowe and a niece, Susan Stowe.

Mr. Stowe is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Ruth F. Stowe; daughters, Patti Stowe and partner, Chip DeLamater of Gastonia and Sherri Leaphart and husband, Wade Leaphart of Gastonia; grandchildren and spouses, John and Sallie Faulkner, Patrick and Ashley Faulkner, Lincoln Willis and Taylor Leaphart; great-grandchildren, Josie Faulkner, Bryce Faulkner and Harvey Faulkner; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mack and Doris Stowe of Belmont and Jimmie and Janice Stowe of Gastonia; numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation beginning at 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Presbyterian Church with the funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. The Rev. Edward Forsyth and the Rev. Dr. Don Patchel will officiate.

Burial with military honors presented by the Gaston County Sherriff's Office Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church, 4357 S New Hope Road, Gastonia, NC 28056.
