BELMONT - Jonathan "Bryan" Drum, 31, passed away peacefully at home from complications of a traumatic brain injury he sustained in a car accident on April 16, 2000, one month from high school graduation.

Bryan received his high school diploma from South Point High School in Belmont, N.C. and was registered to start college at East Carolina University in the fall of 2000. Prior to his injury, Bryan was a quiet, gentle soul who loved his family, his brothers, his friends, animals, his car, Tu-pac, and especially the love of his life, Kristi. After his injury, Bryan lived a life at home surrounded by the love of his family. He touched a multi-tude of lives over the last 13 years and everyone who came in contact with him felt the presence of God's love and peace from him. He taught all of us how to live and love in a new and better way. His legacy will continue on through his survivors – his devoted mother and full-time caregiver, Teresa "Terri" Drum, his loving father, Vernon "Butch" Drum, his three loving brothers, Jason Drum and fiancee Alisa Wilson, his future niece Ali, Matthew Drum and wife Amanda, and Aaron Drum and his wife, Jennifer; his special niece and namesake Kayleigh Brianna Drum, his loving nephew Jaelen Drum, his devoted uncles Bobby Cathey and Bill Cathey, cousins Jay and Stefany Bennett, special cousin Susan Gray, and special caregivers, Sandy Morgan and Cheryl Fleming. Bryan was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Carol Mullis, and his maternal grandfather, Bob Cathey.

The Drum family would like to offer their sincere thanks to Bryan's doctors and staff – Dr. David Rinehart, Dr. David Wiercisiewski, Dr. Michael Heavner, Dr. Scott McLanahan and Dr. Matthew Elliott. Thank you to Bryan's parents' co-workers and staff at the Surgical Trauma ICU at CMC Main and Holy Angels in Belmont, N. C. for their loving support.

A private memorial service is being held by the family.
