After a brief illness, Julia Kay Fickett entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 3, 2013.
The Guest Book is expired.
Julia was born on April 17, 1945, in Charlotte, to the late Shirley Ellis and Evelyn Williams Fickett.
She spent her early years in Charlotte and then moved with her family to Jacksonville, Florida and then Bir-mingham, Alabama where her father's work took the family. She was a graduate of Mountain Brook High School, Birmingham, Alabama and attended
Montevallo College, in Montevallo, Alabama.
Julia relocated to Gainesville, Florida in 2001 and enjoyed living at the Atrium where she made many new friends. After Julia moved to Gainesville, her cousin, Roger Williams and his wife, Lorraine, became her loyal confidants, friends and caretakers. Declining health in the last few years robbed Julia of the opportunity to live independently. Julia was predeceased by her parents but is survived by her brother, Alan G. Fickett, Winter Springs, Florida and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to
Julia's faithful friend and helper, Sandra Armantrout, the medical professionals at Shands Hospital, Gainesville, Florida and the residents and staff of Parklands Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gainesville, Florida.
A celebration of Julia's life was held in Gainesville, Florida on Saturday, August 10, 2013.
Burial services will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 S. New Hope Road, Gastonia.
