GASTONIA - Leroy Riley Jr., 54, of 3243 Pikes Peak Drive, departed this life on Oct. 5, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 14, 1958, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Leroy and Susie Riley.

He attended Burgard Vocational High School in Buffalo.

Later in his life, he transitioned to North Carolina. He was employed by Carolinas Medical Center for 15 years, where he developed
close relationships with his fellow coworkers. There he met Veronica Stevens, whom he married on June 11, 2005.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Veronica Stevens-Riley; daughters, Quintia and Tiyaka Hemphill; stepchildren,
Terence and Bri-ana Stevens; stepmother, Inez Riley; sister, Denise Fruit (John); brother, Alvin Riley (Joyce); aunt, Atlene McCorvey; uncles, Alvin Riley (Emily), Charles Riley (Loretha) and Eddie Lee Riley; nephews, Terrell Fruit and Robert Riley; and a host of relatives.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Center Baptist Church, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

Costner Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
