BELMONT - Lloyd Douglas "Doug" Black, 58, died March 5, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Gastonia, he was a son of Loyde Earl and Mary Stewart Black.
He was a graduate of Hunter Huss High School. He was the owner and broker in charge of Black & Whisnant Properties of Gastonia opening in 1983 until earlier this year. He attended Bethlehem Church, Gastonia.
In addition to his parents, Doug is survived by his soul mate and caregiver of 42 years, Gail D. Black; sons, Philip Douglas Black and wife Jessica of Belmont and Christopher Lance Black and Jen Quinn of Gastonia; grandson, Carter Lance Black of Gastonia; and brother, Robert Stewart Black of Gastonia.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Church with the Rev. Dickie Spargo offici-ating.
Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
Pallbearers will be Mike Walters, Mike Gibson, Nelson Thompson, John Whitaker, Jessie Caldwell, and Bill Cowan. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff members of Black and Whisnant Properties.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Gaston Hospice, especially Anna Marie Schindler, as well as Dr. Michael Livingston and the staff of Carolina Hematology and Oncology.
