GASTONIA - Lucy Mae VanDyke Crawford, 83, went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2012 at her home.
She was born in Cleveland County to the late David Sylvanus VanDyke and Lula Lockridge VanDyke.
She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Mack Crawford, and brothers, James Robert VanDyke and Johnny VanDyke.
After 49 years as a devoted nurse, Mrs. Crawford retired from Gaston Memorial Hospital in 1994. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gastonia, and a loving mother and grandmother who cared deeply for her family. The family would like to give a special thanks to all of her Gaston County hospice caregivers.
SURVIVORS: son, Kenneth Crawford, Gastonia; daughter, Cynthia Crawford Paige, Gastonia; sisters, Belle Griffin and husband Willie, Kings Mountain, Lois Moss, Kings Mountain, and Mary Melton and husband George, Kings Mountain; one granddaughter, Raven Crawford Watt and husband Ben, Charlotte; special niece, Renee Black; grand nephew, Griffin Reed
FUNERAL SERVICE: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Aldridge officiating.
VISITATION: 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain
INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain
