MOUNT HOLLY - Martin Luther Hall, 85, passed away on Sunday May 13, 2018.

He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Shuford and Callie Williamson Hall.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters Robert Hall, Earl Hall, Frances Walters and Juanita Rumfelt, sisters-in-law, Margie P. Hall and Mildred Hall.

He was a lifelong member of Mount Holly Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, Treasurer and he sang in the choir for many years. He currently is a member of Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church. He retired from Duke Power after 42 years of service where he was the manager of the warehouse at Toddville. Mr. Hall was a graduate of Mount Holly High School where he was known for his left hand pitching with the baseball team and was voted best looking in his senior class. He was a US Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Donnie L. Hall; two daughters Angie McSwain and husband Mark of Mount Holly, Lisa Rhyne and husband Corey of Mount Holly. Granddaughter Emma Rhyne of Mount Holly. A brother Arnold Hall Sr. of Belmont. The family would like to offer special thanks to Louise Hunt and Carolyn Styles for their special care and compassion offered over the past year.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hall will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church with Dr. Danny Penny and Mr. Corey Rhyne officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Gaston County, 330 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way,

Gastonia, North Carolina.
