GASTONIA - Mary Sexton Freeman, 88, formerly of Charlotte, passed away Aug. 13, 2012, at Brian Center Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Bible Baptist Church, 255 S. Hwy 21 Bypass, Rock Hill, S.C., with the Rev. Jim Parrish officiating.
Burial will be at Westview Gardens, 1123 Edgewood Road, Bessemer City, NC 28016.
A native of Mohawk, Tenn., Mary was the daughter of the late Jay and Laura Campbell Sexton and the widow of Richard Leroy Freeman. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church and worked at Hoescht-Celanese Corporation for over 15 years.
Surviving are her son, Jay Freeman and wife, Rena, of Alexis; two daughters, Ruth B. Miller of Gastonia and Pat Padgett and husband, Alfred (Junior), of Rock Hill, S.C.; five grandchildren, Brian Freeman and wife, Beth, of Davidson, Jai Jai Freeman Bullard and husband, David, of Castle Hayne, Nina Bowers of Gastonia, Jason Freeman and wife, Beth of Rock Hill, S.C. and Dee Dee Padgett Oliver and husband, Cody of Camp Lejeune; eight step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, including the two babies and seven step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by three sisters, Eva Ruth Sisk, Gladys Freeman and Martha Sexton.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
