SEATTLE, WA-- Mason Chesley Pritchard, age 25, formerly of Gastonia, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 5, 2018.
Mason had a smile that lit up an entire room. He was an intelligent, charismatic, giving, and joyful soul. Mason graduated from Forestview High School in 2011 and worked for the Gaston Country Club golf course for a few years. He then went on to get his bachelor in communication at UNC Wilmington. In 2016, he took a position with North Helpline Food Bank in Seattle. With a deep passion for social justice, Mason volunteered regularly at the People's Harm Reduction Alliance, The Housing Justice Project, and served on the board for Solarize Puerto Rico during his time living in Seattle. Mason's contributions are seen not only in his community service,, but also in the way he touched the lives of all his friends and family. Mason was a loving son, brother, and friend. He will be most remembered for his love for music, art, people, and his endearing sense of humor.
Mason is survived by his father and step mother, William "Lee" Pritchard and Karen K. Laskey-Pritchard of Gastonia; sisters, Jessica Lee Pritchard and fiance' Eric Lee Poncer of Gastonia, Katie Elizabeth Pritchard (Martin Castro) of Virginia Beach, VA, Allyson Lane Pritchard of Gastonia; stepbrother, Brendan Michael Laskey of Gastonia and special nephew, Mateo Lee Castro. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Esther Bunton Pritchard.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2:45 pm, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia. A memorial service will follow in the Founder's Chapel at 3:00 pm.
