Melvin Wallace Yoder, 77, died July 7, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital, and went to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born in Catawba County, son of the late Mark and Jessie Hildebran Yoder.

He was a self-employed carpenter and was a member of Moores Chapel United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1955.
He was preceded in death by a son, Nathan Yoder; sisters, Nora Houser, Devann Massey, Phyllis Kulbacki and Veva Troutman.
Called "Wally" by his family and friends, he is survived by his loving wife of 54½ years, Vivian Carpenter Yoder; a daughter, Myra Yoder Paul and husband, Larry, of Concord; a son Kevin Yoder, and wife, Dale Evans, Yoder of Crouse; four grandchildren, Nicholas and Olivia Paul, Alan Yoder and wife, Shannon Cozart Yoder, and Jeremy Yoder; a great-granddaughter, Eira Yoder; and a sister, Sonja Yoder of Hickory.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday July 8, 2012, at Moores Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor David Arledge officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
