GASTONIA - Mildred Leggett Parham, 84, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2013, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Born in Knoxville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Eric and Claire Bright Leggett, wife of the late Walter C. Parham.
She was a loyal and charter member of New Hope Baptist Church where she had served on the kitchen committee, as a Sunday school teacher and as a Bible school teacher. Mildred loved being with people, going on trips and working in the yard.
Surviving are her children, Pamela P. Lewis and her husband, Tom, of Lyman, S.C., Connie P. Blackmon, of Lake Wylie, S.C., and
Melanie P. Thornburg and her husband, Vee, of Cherryville; half sister, Janice Leggett Braswell and her husband, Byron, of Gastonia; grandchildren, Melissa Green and her husband, Andrew, Christy Morris and her husband, Wayne, Heather Lewis, Brandi Bradberry and her husband, Matt, Wesley Blackmon, Kaci Thornburg and Clay Thornburg; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Green, Grace Green, Emily Morris and Leanna Morris.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Milburn Leggett.
Services for Mildred will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ned Buckner officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
