GASTONIA -- Myra Lee Cochran Doster, 77, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, June 16, 2012. Mrs. Doster was born in Richmond, Va. and was the daughter of the late John Spence Cochran and Mary Katherine Simmons McDuffie. Mrs. Doster was lovingly raised by the late Dr. Alfred Cornelius "Papa" Current and Vera "Love" McDuffie Current. A homemaker and Realtor, Mrs. Doster was a graduate of Gastonia High School and Meredith College. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was President of the Women of the Church. Mrs. Doster was involved in numerous community affairs including the Debutant Club, Rainbows, Crisis Assistance Ministries and the Junior League. Myra was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Her memory will be treasured by her family as well as friends. She lived a life of love through Christ. She now resides with her Heavenly Father. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Doster was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Cornelius Current Jr. and a sister, Molly Beth Current Lawrence. Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Oscar Lee Doster; children and spouses, Daniel Oscar Doster and wife, Sheila, Mary Carol Doster Hannah and husband, David, Lee Ann Doster Ward and husband, Mike, Myra Louise "Lucy" Doster Poche' and husband, Daniel, James Dennis Doster and wife, Millie, John Thomas Doster and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Poche', Joshua Lee Doster, Taylor Louise Doster, Caleb Dean Doster, Grace Ann Doster, Caroline Louise Doster, Cameron Oscar Doster, Dan'elle Marie Doster; great-grandchildren, Addison Claire Doster, Tallmadge Markus Doster, Cash Shane Muller; brothers, William Ange Current and John Spence Cochran Jr.; sisters, Maxie Eugene McDuffie Haltiwanger and Brenda Cochran Randale. Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service for Myra beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Braxton East and the Rev. Dr. J. George Gilbert will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church as well as from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday in the living room of Covenant Village. A private family burial will take place at Gaston Memorial Park.
