GASTONIA - Nellie Gray Holland, 88, passed away Nov. 18, 2012, at Morningside Assisted Living, Gastonia.

She was born Nov. 28, 1923, in McAdenville, daughter of the late Frank and Nellie Rhyne Nichols.
Mrs. Holland loved her family, her cats, singing and playing the piano.
She was a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church, McAdenville.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at McAdenville Wesleyan Church, officiated by the Revs. Brian Matherlee and Sam Crisp.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
She is survived by sisters, Mary Lanier of Lake Norman, Margie Crisp and her husband, Hershel of Kannapolis; nephews, Joe Cearley and wife, Jeanie of Gastonia, Jerry Nichols and wife, Joan of Winston Salem; numerous other nieces and nephews; special great niece and caregiver, Holly Cearley and her fiancé, Albert McMillian; great nephew, Daniel Nichols and his wife, Jennifer; step-daughter, Sue Strickland and her husband, Jeff.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Holland; three brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be made to McAdenville Wesleyan Church, 300 E. Wesleyan Dr., McAdenville, NC 28101.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
