Nicholas Wehrmann Obituary

WILKESBORO - Nicholas Wehrmann Sr., a84, of Green Way Lane, died March 24, 2010, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Revs. Bob McCloskey and Carl Elledge officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A celebration of life reception will be held in the St. Paul's Church Parish Hall immediately following the interment. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 in the Commons of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Mr. Wehrmann was born March 31, 1925 in The Hague, Netherlands. He served as president, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Ithaca Industries for many years. He served on the Board of Directors of The Health Foundation. He was owner of Wehrmann-Angus, New Market, Virginia with cattle partner and farm manager, Richard McClung. Mr. Wehrmann served in the United States Navy during World War II, became a US citizen as a result of that service and continued to be a patriot throughout his life. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Rose Van Dam Wehrmann.

He is survived by: his wife, Barbara Ann Wehrmann of the home; one daughter, Diane L. Fulton of Greensboro; two sons, Nicholas J. Wehrmann and wife, Linda of Wilkesboro, Robert J. Wehrmann of Gastonia; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
