ASHEVILLE - Patsy "Pat" Messick Moser, 77, of Asheville and formerly of Gastonia, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Western North Carolina Baptist Home in Asheville.

Mrs. Moser was born June 3, 1934, in Gastonia and was the daughter of the late Nelson Jones and Iva Bailey Messick.

Mrs. Moser was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 42 years, William R. "Bill" Moser Sr.; and one sister, Betty Messick Kendrick.

A native of Gastonia, Patsy was a 1952 graduate of Gastonia High School. She and Bill Sr. married in 1954. Patsy was a devoted wife and stay-at-home mother, residing 46 years on Athenian Drive in Gastonia. Before children, she was in secretarial work at Textiles Inc. She was an active member of Myers Memorial United Methodist Church, teaching music to children, singing in the choir and participating in the United Methodist Women. She loved to play the piano and sing. Before moving to the Western North Carolina Baptist Home in Asheville in 2009, Patsy resided for four years at Carillon Assisted Living in Cramerton.

Mrs. Moser is survived by two sons, William R. "Bill" Moser Jr. (Susan) of Newton, Ray Tysor "Ty" Moser (Pamela) of Asheville; four grandchildren, Katharine Moser Hulcher (Zachary), Rebecca Marie Moser, Patrick Jordan Moser, Carolina Elizabeth Moser; two sisters, Bobbie Messick Foxx, Marlene Messick VanTassel, both of Gastonia; two brothers, James Harrison Messick of Gastonia, Carlton Lewis Messick (Doris) of Buford, Ga.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Myers Memorial United Methodist Church, 301 S. New Hope Road, Gastonia.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Myers Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clyde Penry and the Rev. Henry Justice officiating.

Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
