GASTONIA – Mr. Paul Clifford Harbin, 83, of Gastonia, died Friday, October 25, 2013 at Robin Johnson Hospice House. A native of Gastonia, he was born September 13, 1930, a son of the late Lee Roy and Bertie Dameron Harbin.
Paul was a US Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He retired from China Grove Textiles (formerly TiCaro) as a foreman after 35 years of service. His pride and joy were his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved his tractor, gardening and cutting grass. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed his trips to Butner, NC to hunt.
The family would like to offer their gratitude to all the doctors and caregivers that provided Paul with their compassion, care and excellent service.
Mr. Harbin is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy "Dot" Stiles Harbin; children, Donna Bartlett and husband Edwin; Keith Harbin and wife Nita, all of Gastonia; grandchildren, Dr. Ashley Brooke Ivkovich of Columbus, OH; Brittney Holland Har-bin of Chapel Hill, NC; Alec Clinton Harbin; Christopher Edwin Bartlett, both of Gastonia; great-granddaughter, Emily Bartlett; sister, Clara Self and husband Cone; brother, David "Bud" Harbin, all of Gastonia; sister-in-law, Jane Wyont Harbin; his dog Max and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Harbin and wife Lucy; Fred Harbin and wife Ida; and Ray C. Harbin; sisters, Nellie Harbin; Ruby Harbin Stowe and husband Rev. Dan P. Stowe; sister-in-law, Joan Harbin.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2013 at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors with Rev. Dr. Joan C. Martin and Pastor James Holeman officiating. Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park with Military Rites performed by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
